Every day many videos of stray animals attacking drivers go viral. Now the headache of car insurance companies has increased due to these cases. Cases of animals causing damage to vehicles have increased rapidly in recent times. Apart from this, there has also been an increase in the cases of coconut falling on the car or causing natural damage.

Car insurance company Go Digit said that in the year 2023, it received a total of 20 such cases in which the company compensated for the damage caused to the car due to the attack of angry elephants. According to the company, cases of damage to vehicles by stray animals and birds have also increased in the last year.

Stray dogs and birds are also causing trouble.
Go Digit said that in Indira Nagar, Lucknow alone, 110 cases of dogs damaging cars were reported, in which the insurance company gave claims to the customers. Apart from this, cases of damage to cars due to natural reasons also increased. Last year, many people filed policy claims whose cars were damaged due to falling coconuts or food items dropped from trees by monkeys and birds. Apart from this, claims were also made for damage to the roof of the car or other places by angry peacocks, elephants and stray dogs.

Difficulty in settling claims:
Not only this, insurance claims are also reaching the company in cases of birds repeatedly pecking at the car glass. Since all these matters are new for the company, hence the employees have to struggle a lot in settling the claims in these matters.

Companies have now started hiring separate expert staff and legal experts for damage caused to vehicles due to animals and natural causes. According to insurance companies, cases of coconut falling on the car or damage by elephants are more in Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Bajaj Allianz also said that last year there was an increase in the cases of damage caused by animals. The company said that in 2023 it received many claims for damage to the car by buffaloes and goats. These also included cases of monkeys causing damage to the car by dropping some items on it. Apart from this, there were also some cases in which the new car was damaged while taking delivery.
