Delhi Police has arrested 8 people for attacking, threatening and extorting money from an insurance company owner in Laxmi Nagar. The mastermind of this robbery, Honey Kumar, is a former employee of the victim.
The Delhi Police has arrested eight people for assaulting, threatening and extorting money from the owner of an insurance company in Laxmi Nagar. The arrested accused have been identified as Honey Kumar (31), Sunny Sharma (28), Ankit Jain (32), Vikram Singh (35), Rahul Gupta (27), Rahul Yadav (27), Anil Kant (33) and Jeetpal (42). Police said the accused raided the place posing as police and extorted money and valuables from the complainant on the pretext of a fake insurance fraud investigation. The mastermind of the robbery, Honey Kumar, is a former employee of the victim.
DCP (East) Abhishek Dhania said, “The incident took place on June 26 when four men posing as Delhi Police Special Staff personnel barged into the office of Salman (31), who deals in insurance policies, in Laxmi Nagar. The accused allegedly snatched his mobile phone and laptop and forcibly took him away in a car.”
Money was also transferred to an account
The DCP said that Salman was allegedly assaulted and threatened to be implicated in a false case and was forced to transfer Rs 70,000 to an account and Rs 80,000 in cash was also taken from him.
A case was registered in connection with the incident on June 28 at Laxmi Nagar police station under relevant sections of the IPC. The team nabbed five accused the same night when they were travelling on Noida Link Road in the car used in the crime. Three more of their accomplices were arrested from different places in Delhi.
Had left the job two weeks ago
Police investigation revealed that the robbery was planned by Salman’s former employee Honey Kumar, who had left the job two weeks before the incident. He allegedly passed on the inside information to Sunny Sharma, who planned the fake raid.
Police said that Sunny Sharma has already been arrested in a case of cyber fraud registered in Ghaziabad, while another accused Ankit Jain also has two criminal cases registered against him. During interrogation, the accused revealed that Honey Kumar had a personal rivalry with Salman. He had given important information to plan the crime.
What do the accused do?
Honey Kumar, who works in the telecom sector, is a former employee of the victim. Sunny Sharma drives a cab. Ankit Jain has also been involved in two other cases earlier. Vikram Singh is a supervisor in a bakery, while Rahul Gupta is a data analyst, Rahul Yadav is a gym trainer, Anil Kant and Jeetpal are property dealers.
