Health Insurance Rules: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the country’s interim budget on 1 February. A big news has already come regarding health insurance. This is a relief news for crores of health insurance policyholders. They are now free to claim cashless insurance. Hence they will get cashless facility even at non-network locations. Now all hospitals will have cashless facility. Let us know detailed information about it.

The sufferings of a person who has health insurance will be reduced.

If a health insured person was undergoing treatment in an out-of-network hospital, he did not get the cashless benefit. He had to pay this amount in advance. Only then was the reimbursement process completed. Due to this, the financial burden on him was increasing during treatment. Additionally, insurance companies often do not allow hospital expenses. That heavy economic burden was falling on consumers.

Often the amount is not credited to an account for several months after a claim is made. But now all these problems are going to go away. Every health insurance holder in the country will get cashless facility in any hospital. This will be of great benefit to the citizens.

Information about treatment will have to be given to the insurance company 48 hours in advance.

The General Insurance Council is discussing this with all the insurance companies of the country. Accordingly, it aims to provide the benefit of cashless treatment facility to every health insurance holder. Even if the concerned hospital is not in the list of the insurance company, an agreement is being made to provide free treatment to the policyholder. For this, talks are going on with all the insurance companies on a war footing. To avail this facility, some conditions have to be followed.

To avail the ‘Cashless Everywhere’ facility, the policyholder must inform his insurance company at least 48 hours in advance about the treatment. In case of emergency, the patient or his family members will have to inform the insurance company within 48 hours about which hospital he has been admitted for treatment, it is important to follow these rules. Meanwhile, the Insurance Council has not made any announcement about when these rules will come into effect. Currently, 63 percent of health insurance policy holders in the country opt for cashless claims.

Fraudulent health insurance claims will reduce

Currently, 63 per cent of consumers opt for cashless claims while others have to apply for reimbursement claims. If a customer goes to an out-of-network hospital for his treatment, he will have to pay first and then get reimbursed from his insurance. In such cases, it is entirely the responsibility of the customer to collect the required documents for the insurance claim. Cashless treatment in non-panel hospitals is a good thing for everyone. This initiative will reduce fake health insurance claims. Besides, the cost burden on the insured will also be reduced.
