Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched the Bima Sakhi Yojana with the aim of financially empowering women and bringing insurance services to rural India. This scheme is specifically for women who are 10th pass and want to make a difference in their community.

Objectives and Benefits of the Scheme: Through the Bima Sakhi Scheme, LIC trains women from rural areas and prepares them as insurance agents. Its main objective is to make women self-reliant and provide them with a permanent source of income. Under the scheme, selected women will be given special training for three years. A monthly stipend of Rs 7,000 will be given in the first year, Rs 6,000 in the second year and Rs 5,000 in the third year. Thus, they get a total financial assistance of more than Rs 2 lakh in three years.

In addition, women can earn a commission of up to Rs 48,000 in the first year itself by selling policies. On completion of the training, they will be provided with a Bima Sakhi certificate and LIC agent code, so that they can officially work as LIC agents.

How to apply for Bima Sakhi Yojana: Under this scheme, women are taught every detail related to insurance. Such as financial literacy, customer communication skills, policy sales strategies and networking. Notably, the selected women will get the opportunity to work in their own village or city, so that they do not have to go out and get a job.
