At a time when central government employees are waiting for a hike in their salaries, the Karnataka government made a big announcement on Thursday. The Center has decided to hike the salaries of employees of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) in the state by 20 per cent.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the employees of the transport corporations will also get a 15 percent increase in their salaries. The decision to increase the wages was taken after several rounds of talks between the government and employees of KPTCL and ESCOMs and transport corporations regarding the demand for wage revision.

Decision taken after discussion 

CM Bommai said in a statement that the employees of KPTCL and ASCOM had demanded wage revision, and the minister (Power Minister V Sunil Kumar) and the employees had discussed for two to three days, after which the state has come to a decision .

Bommai said, “I have agreed to the 20 per cent pay revision and orders will be issued in this regard.” Giving more details, the Chief Minister said that the employees of the transport department have been demanding a pay hike, which has been in the past few years. Had not happened.

The decision will be implemented from April 1-

The minister said, “After two to three rounds of discussion with Transport Minister B Sriramulu and officials, I have decided to increase their salary by 15 per cent. Orders will be issued on this also. According to Karnataka government officials, the increase in salary will be applicable from April 1. After discussion with the Chief Minister, the employees of KPTCL and ASCOM had withdrawn the protest call on Thursday.
