Your insurance company may reject your claim for a variety of reasons, so there are a few things to keep in mind.

Driving without third party insurance is illegal in India, but people often take car insurance to save money, but avoid taking third party insurance. This method of saving money backfires when someone gets into an accident with your car and you face legal and financial problems.

There are two types of car insurance – comprehensive insurance and third party insurance. While comprehensive insurance covers damages caused by an accident to a vehicle, third party insurance comes in handy in the event of someone else’s accident or death in the vehicle, which also helps in avoiding legal litigation.

That’s why it is most important to protect your car insurance claim from getting rejected. There can be many reasons due to which the insurance company can reject your claim, so it is important to keep some things in mind-

register an FIR

You should immediately file an FIR after a major road accident. To claim comprehensive insurance or third party insurance, it is necessary to have a copy of the FIR. However, if the accident is minor, such as a dent on the car, it is not necessary to file an FIR.

Notify the insurer immediately

If the insurance company is not informed within seven days of the accident, the company can reject the claim. At the same time, most of the insurance companies offer to file the claim within 24 to 48 hours of the accident, so it is important that you inform your insurance company about the accident immediately. On the other hand, if you inform the insurance company before taking your car to the garage for repair, then you can also get the benefit of towing and free pickup of the vehicle.

Make sure to deliver the required documents to the insurer

Take all your necessary documents to your insurance company. The company will start the claim process only after getting all the documents. After the accident, ask the company which paper they want and for how long. To make a claim, you have to provide motor claim form, insurance policy, registration certificate and driving license. Without this your claim will not be processed.

Take photo at accident site

If you are not badly injured, try to take photos at the accident site to strengthen your claim. These pictures will serve as valid proof for you. It will also be very helpful to take the contact numbers and names of the witnesses and third parties involved in the accident.
