Ghaziabad Police has busted a gang which used to dupe people by promising insurance policies. This gang has duped around 1500 people across the country including Delhi-NCR of Rs 4.50 crore. Police has arrested 7 members of the gang and recovered fake documents and other items from their possession.

Because the Ghaziabad police from Delhi busted a gang that had defrauded about 1500 people across the country of Rs 4.50 crore on the pretext of insurance policies and arrested 7 members of the gang. The police have also recovered hundreds of fake insurance documents, mobile phones, SIM cards, laptops and other electronic devices etc. from their possession.
According to the police, their members used to contact people through call centers and introduce themselves as representatives of insurance companies and used to extort money from them by promising bonus, maturity and benefits in the name of old policies. So far, they have duped about 1500 people and swindled crores of rupees. The police have also recovered 198 mobile phones, 26 laptops, 300 SIM cards, documents of 56 fake insurance policies and evidence of fraud of about 54 lakh rupees from them.
Worked in a call center
Revealing this case, Cyber Cell ADCP Piyush Kumar Singh said that the police have arrested Rahul Nagar, Ashish Kumar, Anmol Chaudhary, Gulshan, Rahul, Suraj and Deepak of the gang in this case. During interrogation, they told that some of them used to work in the call center, while some were involved in preparing fake documents and transferring money to accounts.
During interrogation, it was found that this gang was active for the last two years and was targeting people in Delhi -NCR as well as across the country. He told that a case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is being done. Along with gathering information about other victims, the police is also engaged in searching for other gang members, soon they too will be in police custody.
