18 Months DA Arrear : Modi government’s blow to central employees-pensioners! DA arrears of 18 months will not be available, know the government’s plan

DA Arrear Latest Update: The government told the Parliament that it has saved Rs 34,400 crore by not paying the outstanding DA arrears.

7th Pay Commission Latest News: With the beginning of the second phase of the budget session of the Parliament, the issue of 18 months arrears of central employees and pensioners arose in the Lok Sabha. During the Question Hour, questions were asked regarding the dearness allowance and dearness relief due from the Central Government.

The government was asked whether the 18-month dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners has been stopped during the Corona period, is there any plan to release it in the near future? On this question, the central government has presented its clarification. The government has clearly stated that it has no plans to issue DA arrears.

The government told the reason for stopping the arrears

Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary replied in writing that there is no plan to give arrears of three installments of dearness allowance and dearness relief to central employees and pensioners. He said that the decision to freeze the dearness allowance to be issued on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021 was taken due to the economic disruption caused by the Corona epidemic, so that the financial burden on the government could be reduced.

Pankaj Chaudhary said that the government had to make provision of a lot of money for welfare schemes, the effect of which has been seen in 2020-21 and even after that. The arrear of dearness allowance is for 2020-21, which has not been considered appropriate to be given. Still the financial deficit of the government is twice the level fixed under the FRBM Act.

34,400 crore savings to the government

When the question was asked to the government that how much amount is needed for the arrears of dearness allowance given to central employees and pensioners, the Minister of State for Finance told the house that by not paying arrears of dearness allowance, the government has saved Rs 34,402.32 crore. This money has been used to deal with the economic impact caused by the Corona epidemic.

Demand for arrears of employee-pensioner

At present, 38 percent dearness allowance is being given to central employees. The last dearness allowance was increased in September 2022. Central employees are waiting for arrears of 18 months but the latest reply from the government has given a big blow to the government employees and pensioners.

Although the employees have been continuously demanding DA arrears of 18 months from the union government. He argues that despite not increasing the DA Hike, he has been working risking his life during the Corona period.
