Bank Holiday on 1st April : Why are banks closed on April 1 even though there is no holiday? very few people know about it

Bank Holiday on 1st April: Will be closed on 1st April i.e. Saturday. But do you know that if there was any day on 1st April, the banks would remain closed. Actually, this is due to the annual closure of bank accounts of notified banks through the Reserve Bank of India, which is reserved for bank employees every year.

Bank Holidays in April 2023: Except some states in India, private and public sector banks will remain closed on April 1 i.e. Saturday. But do you know that if there was any day on 1st April, the banks would remain closed. Actually, this is due to the annual closure of bank accounts of notified banks through the Reserve Bank of India, which is reserved for bank employees every year.

The financial year ends on 31 March and the new financial year begins on 1 April. Such bank employees have the responsibility of finishing the financial work on 31st March, during this time bank employees also work for longer hours. Because of which the bank remains closed on April 1, the first day of the new financial year.

At the same time, there are many days of bank holidays in the month of April. Banks will be closed for 15 days including bank closing in April 2023, this includes regional holidays as well as Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.

Bank Yearly Account Closing in the Month of April, Mahavir Jayanti, Babu Jagjivan Ram Birthday, Good Friday, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Sankranti/Biju Festival/Bisu Festival, Tamil New Year Day, Vishu/Bohag Bihu/Himachal in April Banks will remain closed.

Apart from this, banks are also closed on the occasion of Bengali New Year’s Day (Nabbarsha), Shab-l-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid) / Gariya Puja / Jumat-ul-Vida and Ramzan Eid (Id-ul-Fitr). Will remain

April 1 (Saturday) – Annual closing – Banks remain closed in all states except Mizoram, Chandigarh, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.

April 4 (Tuesday) – Mahavir Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Lucknow, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand.

April 5 (Wednesday) – Birthday of Babu Jagjivan Ram – Bank closed in Hyderabad.

April 7 (Friday) – Good Friday – Banks will remain closed in most states except Tripura, Gujarat, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.

April 14 (Friday)-Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti / Bohag Bihu / Chiraoba / Baisakhi / Baisakhi / Tamil New Year Day / Maha Bisubha Sankranti / Biju Festival / Bisu Festival – Banks will remain closed in most of the states except Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh .

April 15 (Saturday) – Vishu / Bohag Bihu / Himachal Day / Bengali New Year Day (Nabavarsh) – Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Assam, Kerala, Bengal, Himachal Pradesh.

April 18 (Tuesday) – Shab-e-Qadr – Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar.

April 21 (Friday) – Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid) / Garia Puja / Jumat-ul-Vida – Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Jammu and Srinagar, Kerala.

22 April (Saturday) – Ramzan Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr): Banks will remain closed due to the fourth Saturday.
