CBDT issued Alert! Get PAN and Aadhaar linked before March 31, otherwise they will expire, 13 crore PAN cards may be invalid

PAN-Aadhaar Linking: The government has made it clear that it is mandatory to link PAN and Aadhaar by March 31, 2023. By March 31, 2023, if both the important documents are not linked together, the PAN card will be deactivated.

New Delhi.  If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar (PAN-Aadhaar Linking), then complete this work as soon as possible. The last date for linking PAN and Aadhaar card is March 31, 2023 (PAN-Aadhaar Link Last Date). If you have not linked both the documents yet, then his PAN card will be declared invalid. When your PAN card becomes inactive, it will be just a piece of plastic.

Information has been given by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) that if PAN card holders do not follow the instructions given by the government by March 31, 2023, then their business and tax related facilities will stop working.

Will give Recently, CBDT Chairperson Nitin Gupta had said that out of total 61 crore PANs, around 48 crore have been linked to Aadhaar so far. Even now several crore PANs have not been linked to Aadhaar, but this work is also expected to be completed by the end of March 31 deadline.

Link Aadhaar number with PAN easily by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161 from the registered mobile number. Its format is UIDPAN<space><12 digit Aadhaar card><space><10 digit PAN> then send it to 567678 or 56161. For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789101 and PAN card number is XYZCB0007T, then you have to type the message: UIDPAN 123456789101XYZCB0007T. If the name and date of birth of the taxpayers are found to be the same in both Aadhaar and PAN, then it will be linked.

  • First of all go to the e-filing website of Income Tax Department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
  • Quick links option will be available on the header above.
  • Here click on the option of ‘Link Aadhaar Status’.
  • Fill the information related to PAN and Aadhaar
  • After this click on ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’,
  • A pop-up will open in front of you, in which you will get information whether PAN is linked to your Aadhaar or not.
