Dearness allowance increases : 4% increase in dearness allowance is possible, arrears will also be available, cabinet meeting today, salary will increase up to 90000

There is a possibility that in the cabinet meeting to be chaired by PM Narendra Modi today, about 4 percent increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief of government employees and pensioners can be approved. If this happens, there will be a big jump in the salary of the employees and the pension of the pensioners.

4 percent growth possible

According to the latest media reports, today the dearness allowance of Central Government employees Pensioners can be increased by four percent. At present, central employees get 38 per cent DA, which can be increased to 42 per cent. This will benefit more than one crore central employees and pensioners. The increased allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2023, that is, they will get two months’ arrears of DA in March salary. This will benefit 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners.

Dearness allowance increases twice a year

Actually, the DA of central employees increases twice a year in January and July, it is calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) released by Labor Bureau every month.

Last month, the figures of the December AICPI index have been released by the Labor Ministry, in which the figure has gone down by 0.2 points to 132.3, in such a situation, an increase of about 3 to 4 percent in dearness allowance is believed to be fixed. According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, the CPI-IW for December 2022 was released on January 31, 2023. Accordingly, the increase in dearness allowance is fixed to be 4.23 percent.

Whose salary will increase by how much?

At present, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 1,8000, then according to 38 percent, he gets Rs 6,840 DA. If the DA becomes 42 per cent, the employee will get Rs 7,560 as dearness allowance. That means he will get Rs 720 more.

That is, according to the year, there will be a benefit of Rs 8,640. Similarly, if the basic salary of a government employee is Rs 56,000, then dearness allowance at the rate of 38 per cent is Rs 21,280. After a four per cent increase, it will become Rs 23,520. There will be an annual benefit of Rs 26,880.

  • New Dearness Allowance (42%) Rs 23,898/month
  • New Dearness Allowance (42%) Rs 286,776/annum
  • Till now dearness allowance (38%) Rs 21622/month
  • How much dearness allowance increased 23898-21622 = 2276 rupees / month
  • Increase in annual salary 2276 X12 = Rs 27,312
