LPG Insurance Policy : If an accident occurs due to LPG cylinder, you get insurance! Taking claim is also very easy…Know Full Details here

Lpg Insurance Policy: Domestic gas cylinder gets insured as soon as it is connected. For this the LPG consumer does not have to pay any premium.

New Delhi. Now there are LPG cylinders in every house in the country. With the Central Government’s Ujjwala scheme, LPG cylinders have reached even the kitchens of poor people. Along with this, accidents caused by LPG cylinders have also increased. Union Minister of State for Petroleum Rameshwar Teli had told in Parliament a few days ago that in the last 5 years in the country, 4082 accidents occurred due to LPG gas cylinders. That means an average of 816 accidents every year. There is also a provision for insurance against loss of life or property to the consumer in an accident caused by a gas cylinder. But, due to lack of information, only a few consumers make insurance claims from oil marketing companies.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) take insurance policies under the Public Liability Policy for Oil Industry. In which all LPG customers who are registered with OMC are covered. This cover is up to Rs 50 lakh. In this policy, oil marketing companies compensate for the losses caused by accidents caused by LPG through the insurance policy. There is a condition in this that only the person in whose name the cylinder is is gets the insurance amount. There is no provision for making a nominee in this.

How much amount do you get?

Personal accident cover is provided for loss of life and property in an accident caused by an LPG cylinder at the customer’s home. If the customer’s property/house gets damaged in an accident, an insurance claim of up to Rs 2 lakh per accident is available. At the same time, in case of death, a cover of Rs 6 lakh is available. There is a provision for medical expenses of Rs 30 lakh for every accident, in which Rs 2 lakh is given per person. A maximum compensation of Rs 10 lakh can be given to each person affected by the accident.

How to get claim?

The terms and conditions for claiming insurance and LPG insurance are explained on the website https://www.mylpg.in/docs/. The customer does not need to apply or contact the insurance company directly for claim. The oil company itself files your claim and gives compensation. The consumer has to report the accident to his distributor and the nearest police station. For claim, a copy of the FIR registered at the police station along with medical receipt, hospital bill and in case of death, postmortem report and death certificate will have to be presented.
