Pan Aadhar Linking: Deadline for linking Pan to Aadhar extended till this date, know new details

Know what are the rules It

has been said in the statement that any person will be able to give information about his Aadhaar number to the concerned authority for linking Aadhaar-PAN. Any person who has been allotted PAN as on July 1, 2017 and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number under the Income Tax Act, 1961, shall intimate his Aadhaar number to the concerned authority by March 31, 2023, on payment of the prescribed fee. will be needed. Failure to do so may result in fine from April 1, 2023.

Now the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended to June 30, 2023. From July 1, 2023, the PAN of such taxpayers who have failed to provide their Aadhaar information will become inactive. So far 51 crore PANs have been linked to Aadhaar.

It is worth mentioning that the government has issued deadline many times before for linking Aadhaar and PAN and it has been extended several times to give extra time to taxpayers. Currently it is being linked by paying a late fee of Rs 1000. Before March 31, 2022, there was no charge for linking Aadhaar-PAN, but after April 1, 2022, a late fee of Rs 500 and after July 1, this fine became Rs 1000. In case of extension of the deadline, the fine can be increased once again.

Under Section 139AA of the Income Tax Department Act, it has been made mandatory to link all PAN cards issued before July 1, 2017 with Aadhaar, while PAN cards issued after this have been created by default by linking Aadhaar. Till now PAN cards have been issued to 61,73,16,313 people out of which 46,70,66,691 people have completed the linking process.

Apart from citizens coming from the states of Assam, Jammu-Kashmir and Meghalaya, the Income Tax Department has exempted NRIs and people above 80 years of age from this process.
